What Else Can I Do In Brum?

There are so many fun things to do in and around Birmingham if you find yourself with time and don't want to join one of our organised activities.

Food-themed

  • Boston Tea Party Visit for the best brunch around, whether you want pancakes, eggs or a full cooked breakfast. This is a favourite among BUSAGers! Restaurants are located in the city centre, Harborne and Edgbaston.
  • LA-POP! If you've ever wanted to build your own magnum this is the place to go! Pick a gelato lolly, chocolate to dip and toppings all for £3.75 from a local independent business. Located in Edgbaston near Five Ways station.
  • Independent restaurants This is a list of some of the great independent restaurants, cafes and pubs to explore in Birmingham.

Outdoor

  • Cannon Hill Park A great park for an hour's easy stroll. Also has outdoor crazy golf!
  • Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park Next to Cannon Hill Park the conservation park features a range of animals from around the world, many of whom are endangered. The park plays a role in helping maintain their numbers. Tickets must be booked in advance on the council website and cost £5.50 for students.
  • Visit UoB Campus Why not visit our campus while you're here? See Old Joe standing at 100m tall, visit the Green Heart and take in the architecture. Either walk along the canal from the city centre or get a train or bus.
  • Visit Winterbourne House and Gardens If you're down by campus anyway, check out the lovely Winterbourne House and Gardens. A lovely little museum house and beautiful gardens to explore, with pretty hideaways. Open 10:30am - 5pm and tickets are £6.20 for students.
  • Walk along the canals Did you know Birmingham has more canals than venice? (Or so all the freshers' week quizzes claim.) Take yourself for a wander along some of them. We can especially recommend the route from the city centre to Bournville.
  • Visit Coventry Rough Close Campsite is slightly closer to Coventry than Birmingham, so if you fancy a shorter train ride, go and explore the 2021 UK City of Culture.

Indoor

  • Cadbury World If you didn't have a chance to go during Chocolate Rally visit now! You can easily walk from Bourneville station and your ticket includes free chocolate!
  • Chance and Counters Board Game Cafe If you love boardgames with good food and drinks make a trip to Digbeth for Chance and Counters. This independent business has 500 games to choose from and features local food and drink on their menu.
  • Rock-Up Climbing An exciting and accessible way to do some climbing, on a range of fun themed walls. £13.95 for students, open 9:30am - 6:30pm.
  • Rush Trampoline Park Exciting trampoline park in Bournville, featuring an assault course, dodgeball and of course many many nets. 30 minutes from the city centre by public transport and £11.50 for one hour.
  • Birmingham Library Useful if you'd like somewhere to study! Also a cool place to explore: check out the rooftop gardens for a view of Birmingham.
  • Museums There are loads of museums in Birmingham to explore, several of which are free! Check out Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, IKON gallery, the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Thinktank science museum, the Birmingham Back-to-Backs and many more.
