Pram Race

The Pram Race

On the Sunday afternoon of CentenaRally we are going to be hosting our very own pram race on site.

That seems well random, why are we doing that?

The pram race is an old University of Liverpool tradition which used to happen during Panto Week. Which was a tradition started in 1897 when some University of Liverpool students formed an unintentional procession down Brownlow Hill to watch a Pantomime. This morphed into an annual fundraising event which included a Pram Race. For more information on the history take a look at our archive instagram account @lussago.through.the.lussages.

So how's this all going to work then - do I need to bring my own pram?

If for some reason you happen to have a pram handy and are able to bring it then absolutely do! However we have sourced a handful of prams ourselves so that's not essential to take part. But please do bring a helmet (of any form) if you can! The way it will work is we shall be asking clubs over the course of the weekend whether you would like to submit a team (which you can do using this google form) - each team will need one person in the pram and two people to push. Then on the Sunday of rally - after the AGM Hustings - there will be the big race (or multiple since we don't have that many prams).

What if I need to leave before then?

Unfortunately, because of the AGM Hustings we're not able to run the pram race any earlier and that does mean people will have to miss it (sorry!). Shuttles to the railway station should be unaffected by the pram race so don't worry about that!
