Behaviour, which is not in the nature of Scouting or Guiding, will not be tolerated; any actions which bring the reputation of SSAGO, The Scouts or Girlguiding UK into disrepute will be dealt with by the National SSAGO Executive.
Before the hour of midnight, only songs of a suitable nature for youth members of both Scouting and Guiding may be sung at the campfire.
After midnight, songs which may be deemed offensive might be sung. It is therefore recommended that if you do not feel comfortable in such an environment, that you remove yourself from it when advised.
When drinking alcohol at rally we strongly encourage you to do so sensibly and to monitor your own drinking in terms of what is acceptable drinking behaviour. Alcohol is NOT an excuse for poor behaviour while at the event. We would also like to remind committee members that they bear a responsibility for ensuring their members adhere to these guidelines and in adopting a rational approach to drinking.
We would like to make clear that the intoxication of members is the responsibility of their club committees and their reps. Due to the unfair burden placed on the event committee, Team Pink and first aiders at Rally, we feel like we must stress that committee members will be the first port of call, and therefore should be proactive in preventing such situations arising in the first place.
SSAGO is also an environment where members look out for each other - this includes looking after, specifically people within your own club, when they are consuming alcohol. Over the weekend, the rally committee and Team Pink will be incredibly busy dealing with a wide variety of things and so we would really appreciate it if people helped out if you see someone that may need some help..
We know some of you may be uncertain when looking after people who are drinking. So here are a few tip on how best to support those who are drinking and well as, hopefully, preventing things from getting more serious:
If it gets to a stage where you are extremely overwhelmed and believe you may need further, or medical, assistance please find a member of Team Pink or call the Team Pink hotline.
The use of illegal substances of any kind will not be tolerated by SSAGO. The police shall be called immediately and a lifetime ban from SSAGO will automatically occur. Additionally, the member/s involved will have their name/s passed to The Scout Association and Girlguiding UK, and their University.
With it being our birthday, and an extra special one at that, we would like to strongly encourage everyone to bring cake to share with each other - we would encourage you to work with your club to buy and transport an appropriate amount of cake (enough for your club, and ideally some spare)! On arrival, please hand the cake to reception, so we can organise sharing it out. Please make sure that any cake has ingredients listed, so we can account for dietary requirements. In the interest of fairness, we can’t guarantee that clubs that don’t bring cake will receive cake.
If you experience any issues in the booking process, please contact webmaster@ssago.org.
