Site

The aim for the site is to be as accessible as possible but it does have some limitations due to it being a small site. It is expected to be muddy on site but it does have a hard path between the hall, toilets and accessible camping.

Main Hall

The main hall has step free access and should have enough space for everyone although depending on the number of attendees could get a bit cramped. It will also get loud in there due to it being a metal barn like structure. 

Quiet Room

The quiet room will be a marquee on the field, the aim will be to have a heater in there but this is not guaranteed. It will be policed by someone any time it gets busy and in the evenings. This quiet room will be somewhere to go to recover from panic attacks etc, *NOT* somewhere quiet to go and chat. The only time this will not be available will be during reps due to it becoming the reps tent but in this time the committee area will become the temporary quiet room.

Main Camping

There is no guarantee of accessibility or quietness on the main field but it should still be accessible.

Quiet Camping

Quiet camping is as far away from the campfire and the hall as possible, but it is a small site so we cannot guarantee it will be silent. Quiet camping is at the back corner of the field which may make it less accessible to some but due to site constraints there isn't any other location to place it. Quiet camping will still be subject to wake up calls because of the constraints of the campsite.

Accessible Camping

Accessible camping is right next to the path and opposite the toilet block. Unfortunately it isn’t quiet due to it being by the main path and toilet block also placing it between the campfire and the main hall. Due to the site constraints it is not possible to provide accessible quiet camping.

Hammock Camping

Hammock camping is largely inaccessible, you need to be able to put up and get into a hammock without issue. It is also near the top of the field so if you wish to have quieter camping it will not be possible staying in the hammock camping area

Indoor Accommodation

The indoor accommodation is not step free through the main entrance, although it can be if you go in through the fire exit, this is unfortunate but is due to site limitations. The beds within the indoor accommodation are all bunk beds and they are all within a tight space.

Meals

Meals will be eaten in the main hall at tables, for allergies and intolerances, put it on your booking form or inform us so we can appropriately accommodate you.

Transport

Transport at Rali Cymru will be done using coaches and minibuses, as much as we’d like to help accommodate alternative transport we have very limited access to any other transport. Along with this there will be a short walk to the coaches due to the location of the site, this is around 15mins, uphill in the morning and downhill in the afternoon. We will try our best to make specific accommodations for transport but our resources are limited.

Activities

Pub Quiz

The Pub Quiz will take place in the barn and should be a relatively relaxed atmosphere. The barn is quiet echoey so we would suggest that if you are sensitive to noise then you sit further away from the speakers.

Campfire

The campfire will take place at the campfire area on-site. We anticipate it to be very loud and lively especially during the times of the led campfire, however outside of that time it should be quieter. The main route to the campfire area is step-free, although portions of the paths will likely be muddy depending on weather and concentration of footfall.

Beacons Long Hikes - Easy and Hard

This activity will involve rugged terrain along the ridges and steep slopes of Pen-Y-Fan and Skirrid. The easy hike is anticipated covering somewhere in the region of 13km, covering in the region of 610m of ascent, however the hard hike is anticipated covering somewhere in the region of 11km to 12km, covering in the region of 820m of ascent, Once on the hills there will be limited opportunities to retire from the activity midway, hence we strongly advise you only do this activity if you are a comfortable or experienced hiker respectively.

Wales vs Georgia International Rugby - Principality Stadium

This activity will be loud and extremely busy and is not step free. This will be loud and people will be drinking alcohol. You will not be able to take anything into the stadium including a bottle of water. All bags will be collected in and stored safely by the committee prior to you attending. All attendees are subject to security searches upon entry to the stadium. The whole stadium bowl is seated.

Monopoly Run

This activity will take place around Cardiff City Centre. Whilst nowhere should be inaccessible to those requiring step-free access, the routes teams choose to take may involve steps, so this is something that should be discussed with the team - there are plenty of alternative routes available, so you shouldn’t be at a disadvantage as a team. The pace of this activity will likely vary between teams. It should be a reasonably quiet activity, however the city centre may be busy.

Morning Spoons

We will be visiting one of the 6 ‘spoons Cardiff has to offer however, it is an International Match Day which means it will likely be busier than normal.

It is likely that some people will be drinking alcohol during the activity, although you are under no obligation to do so. Given it is a morning activity it should be a relatively quiet and relaxed environment, although participants are reminded it is a pub setting.

Geocaching

SImilar to the monopoly run, this activity will take place around the city centre. The route will likely be decided on the day by the participants and activity leader, so should be able to accommodate the needs of all participants. This will be a fairly relaxed and quiet activity, however the city centre may be busy.

Study Time

We can ensure the study space chosen is step-free, if that is required by those choosing to use this time.

Penderyn Whisky Distillery 

Penderyn requires that flat, sensible footwear must be worn by visitors at all times during the tour – flip flops, heels or open-toed shoes will not be permitted. They also state that the production area is currently inaccessible to wheelchair users; however, an alternative tour route is available. Please let us know if you will need to use the alternative route so we can make the distillery aware of this in advance.

St Fagan’s Outdoor Museum

St Fagan’s is a historical outdoor museum. Most of the site is accessible step-free and to wheelchairs, however there are still trip hazards on uneven paths, slippery surfaces, slopes and grassed areas; we suggest you visit their accessibility page for more information. Many of the buildings are manned and staff will be able to provide advice. This should be a relatively relaxed activity. 

Big Pit

Big Pit, despite being a museum, is still classed as a working coal mine under the Coal Mines Act; we heavily recommend anyone planning to book on this activity visit their accessibility page for detailed information. Most importantly, as a working coal mine, it is illegal to take “contraband” underground; contraband includes, but is not limited to, mobile phones,  matches and lighters, battery-operated watches and key fobs, and all photographic equipment. Other key points include that the site is on a steep slope and the ground is typical of an industrial site; sturdy footwear is recommended. Most areas are accessible step-free although the ramps can be long and arduous. The underground tour is under lower lighting conditions than visitors may expect.

Cardiff Castle

The majority of Cardiff Castle is flat, but due to the historic nature and layout the paid-entry parts containing the Castle Apartments and Norman Keep are not accessible by wheelchair. The castle grounds tend to be quite busy however, due to this being a large open space there are quieter areas around the grounds.

Cardiff National Museum

This activity will be largely self-led around the National Museum. Their website states staff will be on-hand to assist with step-free access to the building if required. This should be a relatively relaxed and quiet activity.

Pub Crawl

This activity will be visiting many different pubs around Cardiff City Centre, so if you have physical access requirements we advise you contact us so we can try to ensure all the pubs are accessible to you. Whilst consuming alcohol is not compulsory in this activity, you should assume the vast majority of participants will be doing so. Due to the competitive nature of the crawl, this activity will be relatively fast paced and lively at times.

Cafe Crawl

Whilst a selection of cafés to visit has been chosen, the exact route has been planned; if you require step-free access, we should be able to accommodate this. This should be a relatively relaxed and quiet activity, although some venues may be busier than others.

Chance & Counters Board Game Café

Chance and Counters Board Game Cafe is not step free as it has a single flight of stairs up to the cafe. There is no lift and can be relatively busy. This will likely be quite loud as the room is quite small with multiple tables where we do not have exclusive access to the room.

Treetops Crazy Golf

This will be taking place at Treetop Adventure Golf. They state their entire venue has step-free access and wheelchair users will also be able to enjoy a game. Throughout the holes, there are sometimes flashing lights and sound effects. There is a bar available within the venue, so some people on the activity may choose to consume alcohol throughout it, however you are under no obligation to do so. 

Techniquest Science Museum

Techniquest pride themselves on offering a warm, welcoming environment to all of our visitors, including level, step-free access to all areas excluding the planetarium. This should be a relatively relaxed activity, although there may be a high number of members of the public, especially younger members, due to the time of our visit.

Cardiff Bay Short Hike

The route is a simple circular route, and due to the coastal location should be relatively level and step-free. This should be a relatively relaxed and quiet activity.

Infinity Trampoline Park

Infinity Trampoline Park, due to the nature of the venue and activity, is unlikely to be suitable for those with restricted mobility. It is also of note that under no circumstances are people under the influence of alcohol allowed use of the park.

Important points include a disclaimer must be signed by all participants, and grip socks must be worn at all times - these will be provided upon entry to the venue.

Given the time we will be visiting the venue may be busy with other members of the public, especially with younger people. 

Boulders Rock Climbing

Climbing is a fairly active activity. Some climbing experience is required, Boulders staff will be asking all participants some questions at reception to ensure everyone stays safe while climbing on their walls. This is not suitable for those with limited mobility. 

Harnesses and Shoes are able to be hired from Boulders on the day.

Bushcrafternoon

The exact nature of this activity will depend on the level of interest. This activity will take place on site. This will be a relatively relaxed activity and will be tailored to those that wish to take part.

Twmpath

This activity will be running on-site in the barn. A twmpath (or ceilidh, or barn-dance) is a relatively lively & active activity with a live band, and the barn is a fairly echoey space which will amplify many sounds within the room. However you are welcome to participate in as few or as many dances as you wish.

Night Hike

This night hike will cover a circular route of around 7km, starting and ending at the campsite. The route is not step-free since many of the paths around the campsite feature styles and stream crossings in the form of narrow wooden footbridges or stepping stones.

Silent Disco

This activity will be running on-site, in the barn. You will be able to select from a choice of three channels of music, and the headphones should have a volume control too, so you can choose how loud your music is. Given many people will have consumed alcohol and will be singing along to the music, it is likely to be a lively and busy environment in the barn during it, especially given the echoey nature of the room.
