This does not include transport to the event itself. We will be able to collect people from the nearest train station/public transports but arent making any other transport arrangements for the trip.
Each team must comprise of between 3 - 5 participants, all of whom must be members of The Scout Association or Girlguiding UK .
DBS checks and adding on to the scout system will be required, however these will all be handled by Team Pink.
• Each year we struggle to master some of the dietary requirements.
• Our biggest problem is walkers helping themselves to the “alternate” option instead of taking the main option.
• This deprives those who have specifically requested an alternate offering for health reasons.
• We also have the issue of walkers turning up at the last minute and requesting something different well after our shopping trip has been completed.
• This year we are going to issue each walker who has requested an alternative option with an orange wristband.
• This will allow them to ask for the alternate option at check points and meal times.
• These will be counted on 28th January when the entry for new teams is closed.
• This gives our caterers plenty of time to calculate exactly what they need to purchase.
As usual, there are three routes, and we are registering all walkers at the main base.
ALL teams are expected to register at least one hour before their start time, or two hours if they are having breakfast. If you intend to sleep at the school on Friday night we ask that you arrive after 9pm, and preferably before midnight. We do not cater for Friday night and breakfast is served from 4am on Saturday morning.
All teams may make use of the overnight accommodation on both the Friday and Saturday nights.
Any kit brought to the main centre by all teams which is not carried or used on the walk will be left in labelled bags and collected by the finish control marshals immediately before kit check. It will be stored securely and handed back to the teams when they finish the walk.
At the finish, teams will remove their walking boots, and these will be labelled and stored ready for collection after the closing ceremony on Sunday. All walkers are advised to bring alternate shoes or slippers to wear in the school on Saturday evening and Sunday.
Each team MUST be carrying at least TWO fully charged mobile phones throughout the event, and the numbers must be given to the team at reception before the walk#
Photography
Throughout the course of the event participants may be photographed. The Southern 50 Committee appoint an "official" photographer who takes both still and video images of participants taking part. These images are then shown on the Southern 50 video which is presented at the closing ceremony, and copies of the photographs are available for purchase at the end of the event. They may also appear in future Southern 50 promotions including the Southern 50 website, and "North Circular" which is the Greater London North fortnightly on-line magazine.
It is assumed that any entrant is willing to have their images recorded and displayed in this way. If there is a member of your team whose image cannot be recorded and presented then please inform the Southern 50 committee in writing, or by email, as soon as you are made aware, so that our photographer may be instructed to avoid any images of this person being taken, recorded or presented.
