Christmas Dinner

As many students have never braved making a full roast dinner, we decided to put together a simple step-by step guide to some of the trimmings you might see in a traditional Christmas Dinner, if you have other ideas please head across to the Chrsitmas Dinner channel on discord and share your recipes there!!

Carrots and Broccoli
  • Place in bowl with 2 tbsp cold water
  • Cover with lid
  • Microwave for 3-4 mins
  • Alternatively, boil in pan for 3-5 minutes
Yorkshire Puddings
  • Add 2 tsp oil to the bottom of a muffin tin
  • Place in pre-heated oven
  • Mix 70g plain flour with 2 eggs
  • Gradually add in 10 ml milk, whisk until smooth
  • Pour evenly into hot muffin tin
  • Cook for 20-25 mins
Brussel Sprouts
  • Peel top layer and cut in half
  • Fry in pan with oil and a lid for 5 mins
  • Optionally, add bacon to pan before frying sprouts, replacing oil with bacon fat
Pigs In Blankets
  • Wrap sausages in streaky bacon
  • Cook in oven for 20-30 mins until crispy
Stuffing
  • Please find your own recipe of buy a packet and follow instructions
Roast Potatoes
  • Peel potatoes and cut into even cubes
  • Boil until easy to stab with a knife
  • Put butter or oil in roasting tin and place in preheated oven (200C, 180C fan or Gas 6)
  • Drain water from pan
  • Add 2 tsp flour and shake in pan
  • Add potatoes to hot oil/butter, ensure fully coated
  • Roast for 40-50 mins, turning occasionally
  • Remove from oven and serve
